Development Programmes
I also put together programmes for development of people at all levels. Here are some recent assignments:
For KLM UK Engineering
This 5 ½ day programme was developed and delivered over a period of months initially for two groups of senior managers Due to its success it is being rolled out to another level of management in the coming year. The programme aims to develop leadership skills through better people handling and inter personal skills, as well as the skills of coaching others, time management and delegation.
Florence and I worked closely to design a bespoke Leadership course for our management population. This was an area that we recognised needed investment and Florence was so helpful in helping us to pinpoint the areas of focus. The course was designed not just to ‘fix problems’ but to get under the skin of issues to help our managers think differently, approach things in new ways and really evolve as leaders. The feedback from the delegates has been great to hear and we are seeing new and valuable skills, such as coaching, being put into practice throughout the organisation which is having a transformative impact on how we do business
For Baxi Field Service Management Team
The Success Programme was created to develop the skills of the company’s expanded Field Management Team. As part of the overall programme I provided 6 days of ‘soft’ skills training over a period of 3 months to help managers to improve the engagement and performance of their teams. This included understanding personal impact, effective interactions, coaching skills including a ‘coaching approach’ to managing others and time management.
For Team Leaders
This 3 day short programme consists of an initial 2 days followed by a day of review and further input several months later. It focusses on principles of successfully leading others and oneself. Understanding how to achieve effective interactions with others and creating an environment where people can think for themselves and input to the work of the team.
For Line Managers
This programme was developed in 2011 and has been running ever since as part of the in-house development programme. It is 8 ½ days over a 6 month period and covers:
- MANAGING WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
- COACHING SKILLS
- MANAGING MEETINGS
- TIME MANAGEMENT
- LEADERSHIP AND DELEGATION
I am indebted to Florence Madden, of Florence Madden Associates, who led me and others on an Effective Leadership Programme. Florence has helped me to believe in myself and I regularly use the positive affirmations Florence discussed with us and use the tips and techniques Florence gave us as much as I can. Florence is so positive and life affirming, it was a pleasure to work with her and has helped not just me but all my female colleagues who were lucky enough to be on that particular Effective Leadership Programme and we still discuss it and the positive benefits.
